LEGACY,
ENDOWMENT & SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Building a
Legacy and Endowment
The Crafts Association of BC’s Endowment Fund was established
in XXX to build endowment funds to support the long-term objectives and
operations of the CABC. Association staff and the Board of Directors
are committed to ensuring that the intent and value of donor
contributions are preserved in perpetuity. The Vancouver Foundation
manages the assets. With the down sizing of government funding and our
goal to be self-sustaining, the Endowment Fund needs to grow and we
welcome adding your contributions to this endowment or creating a new
named endowment to benefit the CABC and our work.
Estate Gifts
and Planned Giving
A gift through your estate to the Crafts Association of BC helps ensure
that future generations will appreciate craft which is all around us,
giving pleasure as well as serving a function for thousands of years.
Craft is much more than projects made of popsicle sticks or leftover
yarn; it represents our diverse culture and is truly Canadian. An
estate gift provides the donor with tax benefits while ensuring the
long-term health of the Association and making a place for craft in the
arts.
Donors of estate gifts,
endowments and planned giving will be appropriately acknowledged. We
thank our donors by listing their names in our newsletter and in
perpetuity on our Donor Recognition Wall on our building. We welcome
the opportunity to work with a donor to develop appropriate recognition
specific to the particular gift. All information pertaining to donors
and donations received is considered absolutely confidential.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The Crafts Association of
BC’s Scholarship Awards recognize and support professional
craft practice by granting awards to deserving recipients once every
other year. Currently there are three Awards available:
Grace Cameron
Rogers Award
This scholarship is awarded to a practicing and/or emerging
craftsperson to attend a recognized school or course to upgrade
technical or design skills, or to seek a stimulus for greater
creativity and inspiration. As the cost of craft-related education
(tuition, materials, travel, accommodation, etc.) can be high, there is
an ongoing need for financial assistance to craftspeople to help defray
these costs. The principle of the Grace Cameron Rogers Fund is held in
trust by the CABC, and the interest generated each
year is awarded.
The current winner is Pilar
Agueci, a jeweler doing a residency at Glasgow, UK.

Hilde
Gerson Award
Established by the Crafts Association of BC in honour of Hilde Gerson,
who was a long time employee of CABC, textile artist and an
enthusiastic craft supporter, this new prize will be awarded biannually
to a craftsperson who has demonstrated excellence, innovation and
leadership in the BC craft community.
In 1998, the family of
Hilde Gerson initiated a fund in her memory. In 2000, the Board of
Directors chose to dedicate further monies to the fund, and establish
an award. Hilde was a CABC Board member, and for 16 years was the
CABC's bookkeeper. A tapestry artist, Hilde wove the seat covers for
the office's Francis Lemieux chairs, adding to the CABC's permanent
collection.
The recipient of this award
will receive $1,000. In addition, the CABC is working to secure a venue
for an exhibit of the recipient's work in the year following the
receipt of the award.
The current winner is Lou
Lynn and her exhibition took place at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in
Sept. 2007.

In addition we have an
annual Student Awards program in cooperation with BC post secondary

with the Filberg Festival Heritage Society.
We would welcome the
