Enneke Allan

Artist’s Bio

Enneke's baskets are woven using traditional techniques with often non-traditional results. The cedar bark pieces are a simple weave with copper wire twining between each row and often incorporated with copper mesh and/or copper foil. The copper is anodized with a blowtorch before using to enhance the colour. The cedar bark is harvested and processed by the artist prior to use.

Beading is often included IN the work for added interest.

Other pieces are randomly woven with boiled and peeled wild honeysuckle, sometimes displayed on driftwood or cedar root. Twined baskets are woven with roots, ramie, silk and bark, often with copper and beads added.

The work varies in size, technique and materials used.
