Bio
Jill
Allan lives in Victoria B.C. In 1999 she graduated from Alberta
College of Art and Design, (Calgary, Alberta) earning a BFA with
a major in Glass. Her work is quiet, based in the craft tradition
of vessel making, but not exclusively functional. She is influenced
by Scandinavian designs, particularly those of Finland's ittala.
Jill loves creating new work and is very interested in industrial
design. Pattern and surface texture are characteristic features
of the art that Jill makes;
she draws inspiration for these elements from her environment. She
enjoys using a variety of materials, making functional work as well
as sculpture.
