Wendy Churchill
Artist’s
Bio
Wendy Churchill
picked up a welding torch in 1988, and was thrilled to be melting
metal. She has been making jewellery since 1993, starting with beaded
pieces, then taking night courses in jewellery fabrication and techniques.
She was accepted into the full time course " Jewellery Art
and Design " at Vancouver Community College and graduated in
2002.
Each
piece is designed, handcrafted and finished by Wendy. Gold and silver
are the primary materials, and coloured stones, diamonds, and other
interesting embellishments are used. The pieces are either hand
forged on a tree stump, cut from sheet and wire, or carved from
wax and cast.
"I
wish to promote local studio jewellery as an art form, and a viable
means of supporting myself. I try to design something I feel will
be meaningful to the wearer, and find jewellery a challenge, and
a way of connecting with people. I love the transformation each
piece takes, from raw materials into wearable art."
