Bio
I
was born In Slovakia, a small middle European country with a rich
folk tradition. In Slovakia I studied history and art at local college
and later graduated from Library and Information Technology College.
I
came to Canada in 1999, and after living in North Battleford, Saskatchewan
for 2 years I moved to Vancouver.
Beside
my passion for fiber art (hand spinning, weaving, felting and lace
making) I have became interested into the old European tradition,
which is making honey gingerbread decorations.
I've learned about this dying art from the literature, my family,
visiting museums and antique stores, and talking to people who are
interested into preserving this old tradition.
Working
with fiber has been always part of my life. I was introduced to
this art by my grandmother, later in school and recently by taking
classes from local artists, such as Jay Rudolph - lace maker, Linda
Montaque - weaver at Richmond Art Center, and others.
