Gailan Ngan

Artist’s Bio

Gailan Ngan began her work as a potter in 1993 at her father's pottery studio on Hornby Island, BC. She currently works at her studio: an old storefront in Strathcona, Vancouver. Her work is influenced by the ceramic traditions of north east Asia and England. The pottery is stoneware fired in a gas kiln. Most of the glazes are made from local rock and clay which imbues the pot with a subtle color. Much care is taken to create a pot simple but beautiful in shape.
