Artist’s Bio

Alwyn was born on Saltspring Island and studied art and ceramics at Capilano College, North Vancouver; Sheridan College, Oakville, Ontario, Nova Scotia College of Craft and Design, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Emily Carr institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, BC.

Her work is hand built from slabs which are mostly pressed into a mold. Images are silkscreened, scratched, etched and painted with cobalt stain onto the surface. The clay body is cone 10 porcelain fired to temperature with additional firings of lustre and commercial decals fired to cone 018 in a gas reduction kiln.
