Kathleen Raven

Artist’s
Bio
"I
am a compulsive creator. I have no choice but to continue on. My
mind decides to create and my hands carry out their tasks as willing
participants. I describe my works as "mostly functional".
Much of it borders on 'kitsch' - there's no getting away from it
- so I embrace that aspect of my work, and use it as a tool for
communication. I feel that my work is accessible but thoughtful,
and leaves the viewer with something to think about."
Kathleen
has participated in numerous workshops under the guidance of notable
artists including Walter Dexter, Gert Maas, Bob Kingsmill, Katrina
Rossman, and many others whom she has been inspired by. She regularly
attends relevant symposiums in Vancouver and Kelowna learning new
skills and passing on some of her own.
The
pieces are functional and the shiny glaze inside is a food-safe
majolica.
