Brenda Stratton

Artist’s Bio

After graduating from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1997, Brenda was hired by the Fibre Department as a Technician and an Instructor for the first and second year courses.

In 2004, she returned to Newfoundland and Labrador (where she was born and raised) to start her own studio-based craft business.

Brenda's work is an exploration of materials, techniques and colour. This has directed her to explore the technique of felt making and the creation of a collection of scarves and handbags over the past three years.

At the present time, her studio is in her parent's home and consists of a large worktable and small pieces of equipment including a drum carder. Three propane burners are used for dying. One of these is used inside during winter months.

All materials are hand-dyed and all processes are carried out by hand.
