Artist’s Bio

North Vancouver jeweller, Andrea Waines, looks to many sources for her designs. For her "Words" collection, she was inspired by empowering phrases from poetry and literature. Her jewellery invites reflection, wonderment, and discussion.

Beginning with sterling silver bars, ovals, and hearts, the artist laboriously hammers or "letterpresses" each phrase one letter at a time. This attention to individual detail results in no two pieces ever being exactly alike.

By using simple designs to convey her messages, Andrea emphasizes the content rather than the form of each piece. This is the real value of her jewelry. "The words that enlighten the soul are more precious than jewels".
