Artist’s
Statement
To
mosaic is to make order from chaos. In some ways I feel my life
is a mosaic itself
ORDER and CHAOS
one never existing
without the other
but always creating BEAUTY in the end. Perhaps
that is why I find myself so dazzled by mosaics. There is something
about the process of gathering and assembling all the different
materials, then piecing them together piece by piece that is somehow
symbolic of how we live our lives in general. Very few things just
come together instantly. Instead the process is one of developing
an idea or plan and then putting it together one piece at a time,
like building a house or completing a degree or following a recipe
and even the journey of life itself. We are born, we live, we learn,
we experience, we give, we receive, we take and then we die. Everything
has a process and that is what my art is all about. My art like
my life is constantly evolving piece by piece.
