Process Information

I construct my pieces with low fire sculpture clay and white earthenware. The Tableware pieces are handbuilt with layered and intersecting slabs of clay and then individually painted with food-safe underglazes and glazes. The sculptures are also handbuilt using slab and coil construction techniques. Their surfaces combine areas of matte, shiny and crystalltone underglazes and glazes alongside areas painted with acrylic and iridescent paints.

The intellectualizing, research and thought process happens largely outside the studio, allowing the actual creation of the work to be intuitive and spontaneous and in the moment.
